ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos have made key moves to finalize their roster, meeting the NFL’s requirement of a 53-player limit.
As the deadline approached on Tuesday, the team released several players, including inside linebackers Levelle Bailey and Jordan Turner. Other notable releases included wide receivers Michael Bandy, Courtney Jackson, and A.T. Perry. Defensive backs Damarri Mathis and Keidron Smith, along with running back Audric Estime and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell, were also let go. Additionally, Blake Watson was waived under an injury settlement, while defensive tackle Kristian Williams was marked as waived/injured.
The Broncos also parted ways with quarterback Sam Ehlinger and safety Sam Franklin Jr., alongside fullback Adam Prentice and linebacker Garret Wallow. These released players do not need to go through waivers, which allows them to sign with any team immediately.
In a strategic move, the team designated fullback Michael Burton and linebacker Drew Sanders as reserve/injured. Sanders has the chance to return after Week 4, while Burton will miss the entire 2025 season.
These roster changes reflect the intensity of NFL competition and the team’s goal of fielding a strong squad. Recent trends suggest that teams are guiding their decisions based on data-driven analyses and player performance metrics. For instance, a survey from the NFL Players Association shows that most players are targeted based on their on-field effectiveness and injury history.
The Broncos’ current approach seems to align with league-wide strategies focused on optimizing talent. By strategically waiving certain players, the Broncos can now concentrate on enhancing their core team for the upcoming season.
The recent roster changes also highlight the Broncos’ commitment to building a strong and cohesive team dynamic. Staying informed about the team’s evolving strategies and player performances can offer fans a window into the decisions shaping their favorite teams.
