Brown Women’s Soccer Dominates Penn with a 4-0 Victory at Home!

The Brown women’s soccer team delivered an impressive performance by defeating the Penn Quakers 4-0. This win boosts their Ivy League record to 2-1-0.

Coach Kia McNeill expressed pride in her team’s response after a challenging match the previous weekend. She noted, “We executed our game plan well, focusing on defense and attack.”

From the start, the Bears showed aggression with nine shots in the first half alone. In the 25th minute, junior forward Corine Gregory scored her third goal of the season. She received a perfect pass from Kyra Treanor, who connected with Jael-Marie Guy before setting up Gregory.

Brown continued to dominate, outshooting Penn 20-5 throughout the game. In the second half, Jael-Marie Guy intercepted the ball from the Penn goalkeeper and scored, making it 2-0. This was followed by a penalty kick from Joy Okonye, her sixth goal of the season, tying her with Naya Cardoza for the team lead.

Angelina Vargas capped the scoring with a well-placed shot in the final moments. The Bears showed strong teamwork and determination, a good sign as they head into their next game against Dartmouth on October 11.

This match highlights how momentum in sports can shift quickly. Historically, teams that bounce back strongly often build resilience. In fact, a recent survey found that 75% of athletes believe overcoming setbacks is crucial for success in sports.
