Browns Kick Off Major Excavation for Exciting New Huntington Bank Field in Brook Park

Local groups are hard at work on the stadium project and the surrounding developments. Independence Excavating is busy with the site preparation, while Independence Construction is part of the AECOM Hunt and Turner Joint Venture team managing the construction.

Rob DiGeronimo, president of Independence Excavating, highlighted the scale of the Huntington Bank Field project. He mentioned that the site is near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and requires digging 80 feet deep. They will be moving nearly 2 million cubic yards of dirt, making this one of the largest earth-moving projects in Cuyahoga County. DiGeronimo expressed pride in contributing to what will become a major economic engine for the region.

Work on the project started in October 2025, and the official groundbreaking ceremony is set for April 30. The enclosed stadium and the first phase of mixed-use development are expected to open in 2029.

Brook Park Mayor Ed Orcutt shared his enthusiasm about the project, thanking the Haslams for their investment in the area. He acknowledged the partnership formed with HSG over the past 18 months and expressed excitement for the economic boost the new stadium will bring to Brook Park and Northeast Ohio.

This development is not just about a new building; it reflects a broader trend in urban revitalization. Recent reports show that such projects can lead to job growth, increased tourism, and improvements in local business revenue. As urban areas invest in infrastructure, they often experience a surge in community pride and economic activity, making this stadium a future symbol of hope and opportunity for the region.
