The Cleveland Browns are interviewing Todd Monken, the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, for their head coach position. This marks Monken’s return to Cleveland, where he previously worked as offensive coordinator in 2019. He is the fifth candidate to interview, following meetings with Tommy Rees and Jim Schwartz from the Browns, as well as Dan Pitcher and Aden Durde from other teams.
Monken, 59, has made a significant impact in his three years with the Ravens. Under his guidance, the Ravens’ offense ranked among the best, placing first in red zone touchdown percentage at 67.9%. They also led in rushing yards per game with an impressive 172.1. In the 2025 season, they averaged 156.6 rushing yards per game, finishing second in the league.
Before his time in Baltimore, Monken served as offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2016 to 2018, where his offense set records in passing. During his stint in Cleveland in 2019, he helped running back Nick Chubb rack up 1,494 rushing yards, making him one of the top players that season. Quarterback Baker Mayfield also posted a career-high 3,827 passing yards that year.
Monken brings a wealth of experience with 37 years in coaching, including 11 in the NFL. He has held various roles, from coaching wide receivers to leading collegiate programs like Southern Miss and the University of Georgia. His deep understanding of offense makes him a strong candidate for the Browns.
Recent surveys indicate that fans are eager for a new direction in Cleveland’s coaching staff. A poll from ESPN showed that 67% of Browns fans support a major coaching change. This interest could fuel the team’s decision-making process moving forward.
