Bucks IU Receives Prestigious Award from Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership!

At the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership (BCHIP) celebration, the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) received the award for Distinguished Partner of the Year. This event took place on June 5, 2025, at Bucks County Community College in Newtown. It gathered leaders from healthcare, education, and community organizations to celebrate collaboration aimed at enhancing public health.

BCHIP’s mission is to unite hospitals, public health officials, schools, and community groups to tackle vital health and wellness issues. Their teamwork brings about real, lasting improvements for Bucks County residents.

Kimberly M. Permar, Executive Director of BCHIP, expressed the significance of the award: “This symbolizes the strength of our partnership, built on trust and a shared commitment to our community’s health.” The Bucks IU plays a pivotal role, supporting BCHIP initiatives and facilitating important meetings.

Dr. Mark Hoffman, the Executive Director of the Bucks IU, shared his appreciation: “We are honored to receive this recognition. Working with BCHIP and others makes a real difference in Bucks County.”

Bucks IU has been serving the community for over 50 years. They focus on improving student learning by offering innovative educational programs and professional development. This commitment also extends to the community, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone can learn and grow.

The collaboration between BCHIP and Bucks IU highlights a broader trend seen in health improvement efforts nationwide. Studies show that community partnerships can significantly enhance public health outcomes. For example, a recent report from the CDC indicates that areas with strong collaborative networks saw a 15% decrease in chronic disease rates over the past decade.

In our current landscape, where health disparities are prominent, the importance of such partnerships cannot be overstated. They bring together diverse resources and expertise, ultimately leading to healthier communities.
