LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Colorado’s track and field team capped off a thrilling weekend with a fantastic performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays. They achieved five all-time top 10 marks and many personal bests across the events.
Avery Pearson stood out with impressive runs. After clocking the #2 all-time 800-meter time, she sprinted to a 53.90 finish in the 400 meters, ranking #5 in Colorado’s history. That’s two top 10 performances in one weekend!
Freshman Teagan Malcom also shone, achieving a personal best of 52.40 in the 400-meter hurdles, securing 12th place at Bryan Clay.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, Danny Tragarz matched his personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.48, finishing fifth overall among top competitors.
Kole Mathison had an exciting evening, running a personal-best 3:40.83 in the elite 1500 meters at Bryan Clay. This impressive time moves him to #8 in Colorado’s all-time records.
The weekend’s highlights included these top 10 marks: Pearson in the 800m (#2) and 400m (#5), Lucas Williams in hammer throw (#5), James Overberg in 5000m (#10), and Mathison in 1500m (#8).
The Buffs will take a break before competing again on May 3 at the Doug Max Invitational hosted by Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
