Bowie State Softball Team Struggles in Doubleheader Against Frostburg State
On a rainy day in Washington, D.C., the Bowie State Bulldogs faced Frostburg State and came up short in both games. They lost 9-1 in the first game and then fell 15-0 in the second.
In the first match, Frostburg State quickly took control. They scored three runs in the second inning, thanks to a powerful home run by Izabella Don. Bowie State managed to get on the board when Ryan Fraser scored from an RBI single by Soleil Bond-John, making it 3-1.
However, Frostburg didn’t let up. Arden Miller added two more runs with her own home run in the third inning, pushing the score to 5-1. Despite some good pitching by Bowie, Frostburg’s offense didn’t stop, eventually finishing the game at 9-1. Sydney Seals pitched five innings for Bowie, striking out three batters but allowing several hits and runs.
In the second game, Frostburg State continued their strong performance. They scored five runs right off the bat, including another home run from Miller. The Bulldogs struggled to keep up, finishing the game without scoring a single run. Alycia Searwar and Aaliyah Amos pitched for Bowie but couldn’t contain Frostburg’s aggressive batting.
Despite these setbacks, the Bulldogs showed resilience. Players like Audrey Newell and Angelina Nguyen-Nhu contributed offensively and led defensively with solid plays.
These games highlight the importance of teamwork and resilience in sports. As the season progresses, the team can build on these experiences for future competitions. Bowie State will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Millersville on March 12.
