Charges Filed Against BYU Football Player
Parker Trent Kingston, a wide receiver for Brigham Young University (BYU), has been arrested on serious charges. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office filed accusations of first-degree felony rape following an incident in February.
The investigation began when a 20-year-old woman reported to a hospital that Kingston had assaulted her on February 23, 2025, in St. George. Law enforcement gathered digital evidence and interviewed witnesses before passing their findings to the Washington County Attorney’s Office.
Jerry Jaeger, the County Attorney, emphasized the office’s commitment to handling such allegations with seriousness. BYU Athletics also released a statement indicating they take these matters very seriously and are cooperating with law enforcement. Due to privacy laws, they cannot comment further.
Kingston, who is 21 and hails from Layton, will appear in court on Friday. Last season, he achieved impressive stats with a team-high 928 receiving yards. He opted to return to college for his final year instead of entering the NFL draft after a strong finishing season.
Recently, Kingston was seen at a BYU basketball game, seated next to a woman whom he reportedly engaged to. They shared their engagement on social media, but the posts were deleted shortly after.
The Washington County Attorney’s Office expressed gratitude to those involved in the investigation. This situation highlights ongoing concerns and discussions about sexual assault in sports. According to a 2022 study from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in five women experience completed or attempted sexual assault during college.
While this incident unfolds in the public eye, it reflects more significant issues that educational institutions and communities face regarding accountability and support for victims.
