Cadbury has unveiled its first new range of chocolate bars in over ten years, but not everyone is excited about the prices. The new Cadbury & More line includes flavors such as Hazelnut Praline, Tiramisu Swirl, and Raspberry Cheesecake, but each block comes with a hefty $9 price tag. In comparison, traditional Cadbury bars typically cost between $5 and $8 in Australia.
A spokesperson for Mondelez International, the company that owns Cadbury, clarified the higher cost. They described the Cadbury & More line as aimed at chocolate lovers looking for a more luxurious experience. According to them, these chocolates feature larger pieces with richer fillings and delightful textures, justifying the price.
Interestingly, the standard Cadbury bars weigh 180 grams, while the new range is slightly heavier at 195 grams. The last major launch from Cadbury was back in 2012 with the Marvellous Creations range.
This new launch seems to reflect a broader trend in the chocolate market. Recent industry reports indicate that consumers are increasingly seeking premium, “experience-driven” products. A 2022 survey by the National Confectioners Association showed that 65% of consumers are willing to pay a bit more for unique flavors and indulgent experiences.
The flavor offerings of the new Cadbury line are:
