Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launch Sales in Europe Plummet 63% Compared to Battlefield 6 – What This Means for Gamers

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Faces Tough Launch in Europe

The latest entry in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 7, has not made waves since its release. Sales in its opening week fell 63% short compared to Battlefield 6, which debuted in October. It’s also down over 50% compared to last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

According to data from Game Sales Data, which tracks both digital and physical sales in Europe, these numbers don’t include games downloaded through subscription services like Game Pass. This means the actual player count could be significantly higher than reported.

The game is up against stiff competition. Ampere Analysis notes that over 25% of Call of Duty players switched to Battlefield 6 shortly after its launch. User scores for Black Ops 7 have also been disappointing, indicating that not all players are satisfied with the latest installment.

In contrast, Ubisoft’s Anno 117: Pax Romana has seen a strong start, reportedly selling around 2.5 times more than its predecessor, Anno 1800, at launch.

In the sales rankings for the week ending November 16, Black Ops 7 leads the charts, followed by Anno 117.

Here’s a quick look at the European Top Ten for unit sales:

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Activision)
  2. Anno 117: Pax Romana (Ubisoft)
  3. EA Sports FC 26 (EA)
  4. Battlefield 6 (EA)
  5. Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Nintendo)
  6. Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar)
  7. Hogwarts Legacy (Warner Bros)
  8. Ghost of Yotei (Sony)
  9. Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar)
  10. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (Deep Silver)

Sales revenue for that week aligns closely with unit sales, showcasing how the top titles are performing financially.

While the critical and commercial reception of Black Ops 7 may deter some players, the gaming landscape is ever-changing. As new games continually launch and captivate audiences, players will decide where to invest their time and money.
