Calling All 5th and 6th Graders: Apply Now for Exciting Sugar Science Kits!

Ag Literacy Week is happening from March 17-21, 2025, and teachers of fifth and sixth graders in North Dakota can apply for special sugar science kits. These kits come from the North Dakota Ag in the Classroom Program and the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association.

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring encourages teachers to get involved. He believes these kits will help students explore agriculture and science through hands-on STEM activities that meet state standards. With Ag Literacy Week and other agricultural events approaching in March, it’s a great time to dive into these topics.

The first 25 eligible teachers who apply will receive the kits, which include materials for science, technology, engineering, and math projects, plus extra educational resources. Teachers will have until April 23, 2025, to use the kits and to report their findings through follow-up surveys required by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture.
