Calling All Students: Apply Now for the Earth Care Awards – Become a Young Climate Champion 2.0!

The Times of India, in collaboration with JSW Group and Earth Day Network-India, has initiated the Earth Care Awards Young Climate Champions 2.0. This program invites college students across India to share their creative solutions for environmental challenges.

The focus is on innovative, scalable projects that can bring about real change. Participants need to submit detailed descriptions of their ideas to be considered for this recognition.

Winners will earn the title of Eco-Guardians of the Earth, highlighting their commitment to a sustainable future. This acknowledgment not only boosts their profiles but also inspires peers to engage in eco-friendly initiatives.

The deadline for project submissions is March 15. Students can enter their work through this link: Young Climate Champions Programme.

In recent years, youth involvement in environmental issues has grown significantly. According to a 2022 survey by the Pew Research Center, around 70% of young adults view climate change as a major threat. This increasing concern reflects a broader global trend where young people are taking a stand for the planet.

As we look at the past, movements like Earth Day, first celebrated in 1970, paved the way for today’s youth activism. Back then, the environmental focus was largely on pollution and conservation; now, it’s about climate justice, sustainability, and renewable energy.

This shift underscores the importance of initiatives like the Earth Care Awards, which empower students to be part of the solution.
