Cambridge Community Comes Together: Generous Donations for Food Pantry at Annual Tree-Lighting Celebration

Santa Brought Festive Cheer to Cambridge with Tree Lighting Event

Last Friday night, Cambridge celebrated the holiday spirit with its annual tree lighting, featuring a special visit from Santa. Families and friends gathered to enjoy warm hot cocoa, grilled brats, and festive photos with Santa, all while supporting a great cause.

This year, the Cambridge Food Pantry organized the event, collecting donations to help provide food and supplies for those in need over the holiday season. Kerry Marren, the pantry’s community outreach coordinator, shared how encouraging it has been to see the community come together. “People you don’t know, neighbors you’ve never met before, are asking how they can help,” she noted.

Unfortunately, the demand for the pantry’s services has surged, rising nearly 50% in recent months. Marren anticipates that this trend will continue as winter approaches. “We’ve noticed many families returning who haven’t needed our help in a while, as well as new families and seniors who are seeking assistance,” she explained.

The pantry is always open to donations and has a list of high-need items available on their website. In addition to the tree lighting, they are also hosting a holiday breakfast this Sunday, offering more fun for a good cause.

The spirit of giving is crucial, especially as many face tough times during the holidays. This event not only lights up the community with joy but also shines a light on the importance of supporting local efforts like the Cambridge Food Pantry.
