Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) is making an exciting move by adopting Oracle Health’s Foundation electronic health record (EHR) system. This upgrade aims to improve clinical decision-making and create a better experience for patients while enhancing teamwork among healthcare providers.
As part of its digital transformation journey, CMH seeks to build a modern healthcare infrastructure. The new EHR will be a single platform that allows healthcare staff to see a complete view of each patient’s health history. This change is expected to boost efficiency and spark innovation within the hospital.
Patrick Gaskin, president and CEO of CMH, shared, “This new EHR reflects who we are becoming as a hospital—connected and ready for what’s next. It’s an investment in our teams and our patients.”
In collaboration with the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN), CMH will integrate into an existing EHR ecosystem. This partnership will streamline patient record sharing and make it easier for facilities to transition care from one to another.
Moreover, Oracle’s EHR will allow CMH to scale its services as the community grows. The hospital is also looking forward to exploring AI innovations to gain deeper insights into clinical and operational practices. Data analytics will play a significant role in informing better healthcare decisions.
Erin O’Halloran from Oracle Health expressed excitement about this partnership, emphasizing that the new system will help reduce staff burnout and improve both clinician and patient experiences.
CMH serves not just the city of Cambridge but also the township of North Dumfries and the wider Region of Waterloo. With over 1,600 dedicated staff and nearly 500 volunteers, the hospital provides a variety of essential services, including surgery, maternity care, and emergency services.
As healthcare continues to evolve, CMH’s choice to modernize highlights a broader trend. A recent survey by the American Medical Association revealed that 75% of clinicians believe electronic health records enhance patient care. This move shows how hospitals like CMH are adapting to meet the growing demands of healthcare while aiming for a seamless, coordinated approach.
For anyone interested in the future of healthcare technology, the Oracle Health and Life Sciences Summit set for September 9–11, 2025, in Orlando will showcase how AI and advanced tools are transforming medical practice.
