MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State baseball team put on a show Wednesday at Shebek Stadium with a dominant 25-7 victory over IU South Bend in just seven innings.
The Cardinals wasted no time, scoring four runs in the first inning. Brayden Huebner kicked things off with a home run, and Brady Davidson followed with a powerful three-run shot. By the end of the third inning, Ball State had built a 15-0 lead, thanks in part to a grand slam by Preston Murphy.
In the fourth inning, Huston Dunn hit his first college home run. Tommy Landsnes added a triple, and John Colligan contributed a single to keep the momentum going. The team’s offensive fireworks continued in the fifth with a two-run double from Jack Bakus.
Six Cardinals had multiple hits, with Huebner, Davidson, and Bakus each getting three. Notably, Davidson, Murphy, and Taber Stokes each drove in four runs.
On the mound, Brady Strawmyer started strong, striking out two in three shutout innings. Zach Leduc relieved him, pitching two more scoreless frames to secure the win.
The Titans faced struggles on their side, as starting pitcher Josh Vis allowed four runs without recording an out, leading to his loss.
Ball State improved to 20-21 and is gearing up to host UMass for a three-game series starting Friday.
