Carrie Coon Sets the Record Straight on Open Marriage Rumors: Inside Her Relationship with Husband Tracy Letts

It sounds like a plot from “The White Lotus,” but it’s real life for Carrie Coon and her husband, Tracy Letts. In a recent episode of the podcast “WTF with Marc Maron,” Coon shared some interesting insights about their marriage.

Coon, 44, revealed that she and Letts have an open dialogue about their attractions to other people. While they discuss who they find appealing, she quickly clarified that they do not have an open marriage.

“Settle down, internet! I said ‘open minded’ not ‘open,’” she tweeted, setting the record straight.

Married since 2013, the couple shares two children: son Haskell, born in 2018, and a daughter born in 2021. Coon emphasized that their relationship thrives on honesty. She described them as “not jealous people,” adding that they discuss everything openly.

“The nice thing about a marriage where everything’s on the table is that you can talk about everything,” she said. “We never want to be the ‘police’ of each other. It’s nice to share who we’re attracted to—it’s fun and interesting.”

Coon also mentioned that Letts has a keen eye and is often quick to share his crushes. “He always tells me who he has a crush on,” she said. “It’s titillating to know what your partner is into.”

The couple embraces their individuality and believes that relationships should allow for personal expression. Coon reflected on Letts’s past, explaining that he experienced loss early on, which shaped his relaxed attitude toward life and relationships.

“Tracy learned that every day is a gift,” she noted. “He embraces being a person of appetites.”

They met in 2010 while working on a Broadway revival of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Letts is an accomplished playwright and has won several awards, including a Pulitzer Prize and two Tonys. He has also appeared in notable films such as “Lady Bird” and “Little Women.”
