On April 4, 2025, the Morgan State women’s track and field team showcased their talent at the Towson Senior Twilight Meet in Towson, Maryland. The team celebrated a successful outing, securing 17 top-10 finishes and crowning two individual champions: Brylan Carter in hammer throw and Keira Stewart in long jump.

Carter’s impressive throw of 156 feet 5 inches (47.68 meters) brought her the hammer throw title. Meanwhile, Stewart soared to victory in long jump with a leap of 18 feet 7.25 inches (5.67 meters), marking her as a standout performer.

Additional highlights from the meet included:

  • Pole Vault: Azariah Jones achieved second place with a height of 9 feet 0.5 inches (2.76 meters).
  • Discus: Cailyn Johnson claimed second with a throw of 132 feet 2 inches (40.29 meters), while Carter notched a season-best of 114 feet 10 inches (35.01 meters) for ninth.
  • High Jump: Tia Jackson and TyTiana Grandy secured third and fourth place, jumping 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 meters) and 5 feet 1 inch (1.55 meters), respectively.
  • Track Events:
    • Aaliyah Headley set a personal record of 2:22.28 for second in the 800-meter run.
    • Jessica Lamborn finished second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:54.50.
    • In the 4X100 meter relay, the A team, consisting of Jatavia Robinson, Lailah King, Keira Stewart, and Tia Jackson, finished third, clocking in at 46.78 seconds.

The team showed a variety of strong performances, with many athletes achieving personal bests, which reflects the dedication and hard work put in during training. According to a recent survey conducted by the NCAA, student-athletes who feel supported from their institutions are 20% more likely to perform better in competitions.
