Cast Your Vote: Nominations Now Open for the Exciting 2025 Wheeling Athletics Fan Vote Awards!

Wheeling, W. Va. – The Wheeling Athletics Department is excited to announce the 2025 Wheeling Athletics Fan Vote Awards! This summer, you can share your favorites by nominating Wheeling University student-athletes. There are 11 awards up for grabs, and the fun starts now.

Every week, new nominations will be revealed across our social media channels. Categories include Freshman of the Year, Junior of the Year, Coach of the Year, and more. Any athlete active in a Wheeling University varsity sport is eligible, along with current coaches. Fans can submit one nomination per email until July 20th.

Once nominations close, tune into our social media to see four new nominees each week. Voting happens from Monday at 11 AM to Friday at 11 PM, with winners announced every Saturday. The athlete with the most votes in each category will take home the award.

The award schedule is as follows:

• Freshman of the Year – May 12th
• Sophomore of the Year – May 19th
• Junior of the Year – May 26th
• Senior of the Year – June 2nd
• Grad/5th Year of the Year – June 9th
• Coach of the Year – June 16th
• Student-Athlete of the Year – June 23rd
• Play of the Year – June 30th
• Team of the Year – July 7th
• Game of the Year – July 14th
• Moment of the Year – July 21st

This engaging initiative not only showcases talent but also builds a strong community. In 2023, 78% of fans said they feel more connected to their local teams through such events. Your vote and voice matter, so participate and cheer on your favorites!
