WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team is ready to play! They will host Chowan University on Friday, March 7, at Twin City Ballpark.

Team Roster:

The Rams are bringing back several talented players this season. Sophomores include Jyla Thomas and Jai’Nasia Bailey. We also have junior TaKara Ware and seniors Tymiah Wimbush, Malia Simmons, Miranda Wilson, along with grad student BreAnna Steele.

New faces are joining the Rams this year, too! There are nine newcomers: freshmen Layla Smith, Nevaeh Cruz, Laniya Rouse, Makayla Vinson, Alanah Applewhite, Micaiah Cooper, and Aaliyah Rodriguez, along with sophomore Tayvionna Poteat and senior Mikynzie King.

Season Outlook:

In the CIAA Preseason predictions, the Rams were ranked to finish fifth. Additionally, Malia Simmons and Miranda Wilson earned spots on the CIAA Preseason Team, showcasing their skills and potential this season.

Recent Games:

In their last competition, the Rams faced tough opponents, falling to UMO and Kutztown University during the 2025 Softball Round Robin on February 14-15.

The Rams will be back on the field again on February 14-15 at the 2025 UMO Softball Round Robin in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Fans can look forward to more exciting games ahead!
