The Youngstown State women’s golf team is set to kick off the spring season on Monday at the two-day Howard University Invitational. This event will take place at Hawkstone Country Club in Gainesville, Florida.

In their last outing at the Columbia Classic, the Penguins placed 10th. Neeranuch Prajunpanich stood out, tying for 24th among 71 players with a total score of 227 (74-77-76). In her first round, she recorded an impressive two-over-par 74, which included 12 pars and two birdies, and she finished strong with a one-under-par 35 on the back nine. Her performance earned her the Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week title on February 13, marking a significant milestone in her career.
The Howard University Invitational will see nine other schools joining the competition, including Alabama State, Bethune-Cookman, Cleveland State, Holy Cross, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina Central, Queens University of Charlotte, and Saint Francis.
Over the two days, the teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday, totaling 54 holes. Both days will start with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The course will stretch approximately 6,056 yards, with a par of 72. Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced the lineup for Youngstown State, which includes Prajunpanich, Valentina Peña Anaya, Sofia Perez Escarcena, Maddi Shoults, and Lizzie Saur. Bella Saur will also be competing individually.
Prajunpanich, Peña Anaya, Perez Escarcena, and Lizzie Saur have played in all six events this season. Shoults has participated in five, and Bella Saur in three.
