The UCI World Cup cyclocross series is heading to Benidorm, Spain, on January 19, 2025. This will be the ninth round of the 2024-25 season, and top riders like Wout van Aert will be competing. Last season, both Van Aert and Fem Van Empel claimed victories in this event.
In the men’s race, Van Aert will face strong competitors, including Michael Vanthourenhout, who leads the World Cup series, and other notable riders like Eli Iserbyt and Toon Aerts. While fans will miss seeing Mathieu van der Poel—Van Aert’s long-time rival—the two are set to meet in Maasmechelen shortly after this race.
On the women’s side, Lucinda Brand has a chance to secure the series win if she performs well. However, Fem van Empel could pose a significant challenge, as she has already won more World Cups this season. Other contenders include Puck Pieterse and Ceylin Del Carmen Alvarado, promising an exciting race ahead.
For those wanting to catch the action live, the UCI is offering a free stream on its YouTube channel. There’s no need for registration, just head to the channel to watch. However, be aware that this stream won’t be available in certain countries, including the US, Canada, and the UK.
If you’re traveling and unable to access the usual stream, a VPN might help. It lets you connect to your home internet as if you were there, enabling access to your regular streaming services.
In the US and Canada, viewers can tune in through FloBikes, a subscription service priced at $29.99 per month or $150 for the year. Unfortunately, the UCI’s free stream is not accessible here.
In the UK, the event will be streamed on Discovery+, as Eurosport will not air it live due to tennis coverage. A standard Discovery+ subscription costs £6.99 per month, but UK viewers also cannot access the UCI stream.
