Celebrate Excellence: NCDMB Unveils ‘Champions of Nigerian Content Awards’ – Join the Movement for Sustainable Development!

The Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is teaming up with Sweetcrude Limited to launch the “Champions of Nigerian Content Awards.” This exciting event recognizes individuals and companies that have significantly impacted the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.

The awards ceremony will take place on May 21, 2025, at the NCDMB’s conference hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Notably, it coincides with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF), happening from May 20 to 22, 2025.

What’s unique about these awards is their focus on real achievements. The winners will be chosen based on clear metrics set by the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate of the NCDMB. This ensures that only those who truly excel in advancing Nigerian content will be recognized.

The ceremony will highlight several categories, such as:

1. Nigerian Content Icon of the Year
2. Nigerian Content Lifetime Achievement Award
3. Nigerian Content International Upstream Operator of the Year
4. Nigerian Content Indigenous Upstream Operator of the Year
5. Nigerian Content Midstream Operator of the Year
6. Nigerian Content Downstream Operator of the Year
7. Nigerian Content International Service Company of the Year
8. Nigerian Content Indigenous Service Company of the Year
9. Nigerian Content Innovator of the Year
10. Nigerian Content Financial Services Provider of the Year
11. Nigerian Content Media Organisation of the Year
12. Women in Leadership Award for Promoting Gender Equality and Empowerment

Winning these awards comes with fantastic benefits. Awardees will gain media exposure and be publicly recognized at the NCDMB headquarters, among other perks.

An advisory board of industry leaders, including Dr. Ernest Nwapa, Dr. Omar Farouk, and Mr. Tony Attah, will oversee the selection process. Their involvement adds credibility and weight to the awards.

Mr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, emphasized the awards’ importance. He believes it’s time to spotlight those who contribute significantly to Nigerian content, especially as the oil and gas sector approaches the 15th anniversary of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act.

Expert opinions suggest that initiatives like these can greatly promote local content in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. A recent survey indicated that 75% of Nigerian businesses support local content initiatives, seeing them as key to economic growth. The NCDMB’s awards aim to encourage more compliance and engagement from industry players, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

In summary, the “Champions of Nigerian Content Awards” is not just an event; it’s a celebration of dedication and progress in Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape. This recognition will likely inspire others to follow suit, contributing to a stronger, more self-reliant economy.
