Poland’s Iga Swiatek and the Italian doubles team of Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani have been recognized as the 2024 ITF World Champions, presented by UNIQLO.
This award is given by the International Tennis Federation to honor the hard work and success of both established players and rising stars in tennis.
To select the champions, the ITF looks at players’ performances throughout the season, with a strong focus on major events like Grand Slam tournaments. They also consider achievements in the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and the Olympic and Paralympic tennis events.
Iga Swiatek, ranked No. 2 in the world, is the women’s singles World Champion for the second time. She first won this title in 2022. The 23-year-old solidified her status by winning her third consecutive Roland Garros title, bringing her Grand Slam total to five. This year, she also helped Poland reach the semifinals in the Billie Jean King Cup and won a bronze medal in singles at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini had an impressive season together in doubles. They celebrated Olympic gold in Paris, reached the finals at Roland Garros, and claimed two WTA 1000 titles in Rome and Beijing. Additionally, they contributed to Italy’s victory in the Billie Jean King Cup.
