Members of the Kappa Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Hofstra University recently celebrated a significant milestone. They marked their 50th anniversary with a heartfelt community service event at St. Paul’s A.M.E. Church in Rockville Centre.
Over 70 current members and alumni came together to tackle a pressing issue: food insecurity. This initiative aimed to support local families in need. Volunteers set up a drive-up car line to distribute food while replenishing the church’s food pantry, which was running low on supplies.
They didn’t just stop at food. The group also provided seasonal clothing to help families prepare for changing weather conditions. Jaidan Hill, the chapter president, expressed her pride in their mission. “Service is a core part of who I am and who we are,” she said. “Women of Alpha Kappa Alpha show up for our community.”
