Celebrating 50 Years of Steubenville Conferences: Franciscan University Unveils Exciting New Ministry!

STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville Conferences have reached a significant milestone, celebrating their 50th anniversary. Hosted at Franciscan University, these events have brought together over 43,000 youth and adults from across North America for a transformative summer of faith.

This summer marked a noteworthy time, with 15 youth conferences held in various regions of the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, four youth and six adult gatherings were conducted at the university itself. Participants engaged in worship, prayer, and insightful teachings from prominent Catholic figures, including Rev. Mike Schmitz and Scott Hahn.

A standout event was the inaugural Glory: Women’s Gathering, held from June 6-8. Women from all over the country gathered for prayer and connection, guided by speakers like Heather Khym and Michelle Benzinger. Such gatherings illustrate a growing movement among women seeking renewal and spiritual growth.

Brian Kissinger, the executive director of conferences at the university, expressed gratitude for the impact these events have had. “We continue to witness the Holy Spirit transforming lives,” he noted. He added anecdotes of attendees feeling called to enter the priesthood, highlighting the real, personal connections made during these conferences.

Looking ahead, the university is introducing Franciscan Revival. This initiative includes year-round, single-day events aimed at deepening faith and outreach. The first two revival gatherings are scheduled for March 28 in Orange, California, and November 14 in Dallas. Notable speakers, including Chris Stefanick and Bishop Joe Espaillat, will share messages of renewal.

The need for personal and collective spiritual revival remains evident among Catholics today. In a recent survey, 63% of Catholics believe they could deepen their faith but feel overwhelmed by daily life. These new events aim to address that need, offering accessible formats both in-person and online.

Kissinger shared, “We have more resources than ever, but revival is essential. We need the Holy Spirit to guide us and heal us.” This sentiment echoes a broader trend where many are seeking deeper connections with their faith amidst a fast-paced world.

As the university continues to host its Night of Joy events during Pope weeks and Advent, the mission stays clear: to help individuals encounter a living Jesus, foster discipleship, and rebuild the church one heart at a time.
