Celebrating a Decade of Style: Join Us as Our Lifestyle Store Turns 10!

Kirkby Lonsdale is a vibrant market town nestled between Cumbria, Lancashire, and Yorkshire. It’s home to a lot of unique independent shops. One such gem is Abrahams, which is celebrating ten years under the ownership of Josie and JAC Beeson in November.

Josie and JAC wanted to create a special place where people could find unique designs and hard-to-get brands without heading to a big city. “Shopping should be enjoyable and inspiring,” Josie believes. It all started in 2015 when they took over the shop to begin an exciting new journey.

Josie’s background in fashion design helps shape the store’s collection, selecting pieces that highlight craftsmanship and individuality. JAC, managing the business and online strategy, uses his expertise in IT and management to keep things running smoothly. Their daughter, Francesca, works on social media, and Josie’s sister, Emma, is also part of the friendly team.

The last decade brought unexpected challenges. Josie mentions nearby flooding, a fire, and even the global pandemic. These experiences forced them to adapt. “Retail has changed so much since we opened. To survive, we had to evolve,” she explains. They listened to customer feedback and embraced change. Whether it was expanding their online presence or introducing new products, their goal was to keep things fresh and surprising.

Abrahams has grown into a favorite not just among locals but also for visitors from all over the UK and even the United States. Despite its wider reach, Josie emphasizes that their roots are in Kirkby Lonsdale.

“Retail is about connections, not just transactions. We aim to bring something unique and uplifting to our shoppers,” she says. Kirkby Lonsdale is a unique town, thriving with creativity and independent businesses.

A recent survey by the Independent Retailers Consortium reported a 30% growth in foot traffic in independent stores this past year, highlighting the community’s support for local businesses. This trend reflects a longing for personal shopping experiences.

Kirkby Lonsdale, with its charming mix of shops, restaurants, and beautiful surroundings, offers visitors a chance to enjoy local culture while supporting small businesses. Josie and JAC at Abrahams play a big part in this community spirit, and they look forward to many more years of bringing joy and creativity to their customers.
