Awards for faculty and staff at the university for 2026 have just been announced. These awards celebrate those who support teaching, research, and service.
One of the most notable awards is the College Distinguished Teaching Awards, which commend faculty members for their exceptional teaching. This year’s honorees include:

- Katrina Jagodinsky, History

The Harold and Esther Edgerton Junior Faculty Award is given to promising junior faculty who excel in research and teaching. This year’s recipient is Kristen Amman from Mathematics.
The Annis Chaikin Sorensen Award recognizes outstanding teaching in the humanities, awarded to Jacqueline Mattingly, who teaches Music.
Additionally, the James O’Hanlon Academic Leader Award honors those who lead and inspire in their academic roles. Martha Mamo, department head of Agronomy and Horticulture, receives this award for her leadership after over three decades of service.
The Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Academic Advising Award is given to Sara Winn, a student success specialist in Natural Resources, for her dedicated support to students.
Patty Kuo is also recognized with the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award for her mentorship of undergraduate researchers.
The University of Nebraska Staff Kudos Award celebrates staff contributions, and this year it goes to Gail Meyer, associate registrar at the University Registrar’s office.
Finally, the Sue Tidball Award highlights significant contributions to creating a nurturing university community, awarded to Zach Eden, a library associate.
