Ten educators from the Houston area are finalists for the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. This information comes from a press release by H-E-B.
The awards recognize outstanding teachers, counselors, and principals with a total of $28,000 in prizes. Each teacher receives a $1,000 personal prize, along with $1,000 for their school. Counselors get $1,000 for themselves and $1,500 for their school. Principals receive $1,000 plus $2,500 for their school.
The Houston-area finalists are:
- Alicia Adkins, Kempner High School, Fort Bend ISD
- Lorena Carrasco, L.F. Smith Elementary School, Pasadena ISD
- Alyssa Cuevas, Sylvan Rodriguez Elementary School, Houston ISD
- Abigail Eliezer, Klentzman Intermediate School, Alief ISD
- Doreen Martinez, Lance Corporal Anthony Aguirre Junior High School, Channelview ISD
- Nora Martinez, Shadow Creek High School, Alvin ISD
- Jose Muniz, Eisenhower Ninth Grade College Prep School, Aldine ISD
- Olivia Watson, Roosevelt Alexander Elementary School, Katy ISD
- Christie Wootton, Kingwood Middle School, Humble ISD
- Ashley Wright, Annette Gordon-Reed Elementary School, Conroe ISD
The winners will be revealed at a ceremony on May 4 at the Hilton Austin, where a total of $480,000 will be awarded. It’s an exciting time for these educators, and the community looks forward to celebrating their achievements.
