Shaniece Shaffer, Assistant Director of the Academic Evaluation Center at Troy University, recently received the prestigious Vergil Parks McKinley Award. This award is the highest honor given to non-faculty staff at the university.
Shaniece has been part of the AEC team since 2012. The award presentation was led by Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, following a nomination by Donna Bragg, the AEC Director and Associate University Registrar.
The McKinley Award recognizes staff members who show exceptional dedication, creativity, and strong work ethics. It was created in memory of Vergil Parks McKinley, a notable professor at Troy University who played a big role in establishing its athletic program. Award winners receive a beautiful engraved clock and a stipend of $1,000.
In her nomination, Donna Bragg praised Shaniece’s intelligence and commitment. “She is efficient and accurate in her duties,” Bragg said. “Her intuition helps students with their academic needs, and she collaborates well with her colleagues, guiding them effectively.”
Shaniece expressed her gratitude upon receiving the award. “It’s an incredible honor. I love being part of the Troy University community and supporting students,” she shared. “I owe a lot to Donna Bragg for her belief in me and for all she has taught me.”
