On Thursday, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) celebrated the 2024 Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize. This award highlighted the remarkable contributions of two scientists and 14 notable achievements in science.

Chen Liquan and Chen Xianhui were recognized with the Individual Achievement Award. Chen Liquan has been a pioneer in lithium battery research since 1976. Over the past 40 years, he has built a strong foundation for solid-state ionics in China and has played a crucial role in advancing the country’s lithium battery technology.
Chen Xianhui, known for his work in quantum materials, has explored fascinating areas such as Kagome superconductors and magnetic topological insulators. His research has opened new doors in this field, laying essential groundwork for future innovations.
The Basic Research Award was awarded to four significant projects. These included groundbreaking studies focusing on the early formation and evolution of the Milky Way, along with research on Mars’s environmental history across various timescales.
