MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Three gymnasts from Central Michigan have achieved All-MAC honors, as announced by the Mid-American Conference on Tuesday.
Senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid received First Team All-MAC recognition for her all-around performance. Graduate student Lia Kmieciak also earned First Team honors, this time for her skills on the uneven bars. Sophomore Kaitlyn Schwab secured her spot on the Second Team for the uneven bars.
Alvarado-Reid stands out in the MAC with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 39.345 in all-around events, placing her at the top of the rankings. This marks her third All-MAC recognition. In the past season, she has won eight all-around titles, adding to her impressive career total of 26 titles.
Kmieciak is leading on the bars with an NQS of 9.905, crowning her the top performer in that category as well. This is her second All-MAC honor, having previously achieved Second Team recognition last year. She has also snagged four bars titles this season, bringing her lifetime total to 10.
For Schwab, this achievement is a notable milestone. She is currently sixth in the MAC for bars, with an NQS of 9.835.
In a recent survey, nearly 75% of gym fans expressed their excitement about college gymnastics, highlighting the growing popularity of the sport.
