Rhoades noted that he initiated his leave from Baylor but did not provide further details. Recently, Baylor received allegations involving Rhoades, though these do not relate to Title IX issues, student welfare, NCAA rules, or the football program. It’s important to mention that the College Football Playoff typically requires its selection committee to consist of active athletic directors. This year, the committee is already one member short, as another director, Randall McDaniel, also stepped down last month for personal reasons.
In light of Rhoades’s departure, Baylor has appointed Jovan Overshown and Cody Hall as co-interim athletic directors. Overshown currently serves as the deputy athletic director, while Hall is the executive senior associate athletic director for internal administration and finance.
