Nyack, N.Y. (3/15/25) – The Dominican University New York baseball team faced off against Felician University in their first conference doubleheader of the season, splitting the two games at Nyack High School.
In the first game, Felician took control early, winning 9-3. They scored five runs in the first inning, thanks to a bases-clearing triple by Matthew Scrivanic. Luis DLaCruz added two more runs in the fourth inning with a single. Dominican managed to score in the sixth and eighth innings, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback. Ryan Bongiorno did manage to double in a run for the Chargers in the ninth, but they still fell to Felician, who added two more runs late in the game.
The second game saw a shift in momentum. Senior pitcher Anthony Leak delivered an impressive performance, pitching six innings and allowing just one run while striking out seven batters. Dominican struck first, with Kevin Hirsch bringing in the first run followed by Anthony Nigro’s two-RBI double, giving them a strong 3-0 lead early on. Felician answered back with a run in the second inning, but Dominican wouldn’t be stopped. Nigro added another RBI in the third, along with a run from Jean Nunez, putting the Chargers up 5-1. Jedadiah Trudeau closed the game with a scoreless seventh inning, securing the split for Dominican.
As of now, Felician is 5-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Chargers improve to 7-5 and also sit at 1-1 in the conference.
