At just 24, Agyemang’s journey has been impressive. He was drafted 12th in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft and quickly made a name for himself, scoring 22 goals in 72 appearances for Charlotte and adding five goals in 12 matches for the U.S. Men’s National Team. He has also been recognized as a 2025 MLS All-Star.

General Manager Zoran Krneta expressed pride in Agyemang’s development, noting that he was the first player sold via Charlotte’s player pathway in such a significant deal. He emphasized that the transfer was beneficial for both the club and the player.

With Agyemang’s departure, Charlotte FC has the opportunity to strengthen their squad by bringing in a Designated Player. Currently, their main striker is Idan Toklomati, who is under the U22 Initiative.

Agyemang played a key role alongside teammates like Pep Biel and wingers Wilfried Zaha and Liel Abada. Krneta acknowledged Agyemang’s dedication and hard work and wished him success in his future endeavors, including his aim for the upcoming World Cup.

As Charlotte sits mid-table in the Eastern Conference, they are positioned to secure a spot in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Meanwhile, Derby County, having narrowly avoided relegation last season, will look to leverage Agyemang’s talent moving forward.
