Cheers to Flavor: Discover the ‘In Good Spirits’ Celebration at Beaufort Wine & Food Festival!

Beaufort, N.C. is buzzing with excitement as the Beaufort Wine & Food Festival kicks into high gear. This year, the festival introduced a fresh addition: “In Good Spirits,” a fun night dedicated to cocktails crafted from local distilleries. This event, added last year, brings a lively twist to the usual wine tastings.

Local chefs joined the celebration, serving up delicious dishes that paired perfectly with the drinks. Attendees were eager to indulge, and among them were Mary and Mark Sweeney from Michigan. They were in town for their 44th wedding anniversary and didn’t even know about the event until locals filled them in. “We talked to some local people and thought, ‘Oh, we want to do that,’” Mary shared. They quickly grabbed tickets and joined the festivities.

On Saturday, the fun continues with Vin de Mer, the main wine-tasting event. Set against the backdrop of the Beaufort Historic Site Lawn, attendees will sample a variety of wines and tasty creations from both local and visiting chefs.

Aside from being a community celebration, the festival has a significant impact. Since launching in 2005, it has donated over $1.4 million to local charities. This includes support for the Salvation Army and the Carteret County Community College’s culinary arts program, showing the event’s commitment to giving back.

Events like this not only highlight local culture but also attract visitors, helping to grow the economy. It’s a reminder of how food and drink can bring people together while making a positive difference in the community.

For those interested in attending Saturday’s Vin de Mer, tickets are available but selling fast. You can learn more and purchase tickets here.

The energy surrounding the festival reflects a broader trend: local food movements are on the rise. According to recent studies, consumer interest in local ingredients has surged, with 70% of people willing to pay more for foods sourced close to home. It’s clear that food and drink events, like the Beaufort Wine & Food Festival, are not just about tasting—they’re about celebrating community, craftsmanship, and local pride.
