They were in town for their 44th wedding anniversary and didn’t even know about the event until locals filled them in. “We talked to some local people and thought, ‘Oh, we want to do that,’” Mary shared. On Saturday, the fun continues with Vin de Mer, the main wine-tasting event. Set against the backdrop of the Beaufort Historic Site Lawn, attendees will sample a variety of wines and tasty creations from both local and visiting chefs.
Aside from being a community celebration, the festival has a significant impact. Since launching in 2005, it has donated over $1.4 million to local charities. This includes support for the Salvation Army and the Carteret County Community College’s culinary arts program, showing the event’s commitment to giving back.
