Cheers to Success: Cocktail Company Wins Prestigious Award!

Bar Buoy is buzzing after winning ‘Drink Brand of the Year’ at the Food Lifestyle Awards 2025. These awards honor the best of the southwest’s independent food and drink scene, with winners chosen by public vote.

Tim Ball, co-founder, expressed his surprise and gratitude: “We’re genuinely blown away to have won. This award is special because it’s all about the people who took the time to vote for us. We couldn’t have done it without our customers, stockists, and family.”

Founded in 2020 by Tim and Ria Ball, Bar Buoy offers ready-to-serve bottled and canned cocktails made with local spirits and ingredients, capturing the essence of the Devon coastline. This local partnership supports small distilleries and emphasizes quality, ensuring each drink reflects the region’s charm.

Tim added, “This recognition also highlights our incredible spirit partners. Their passion is key to our success, making this award a win for them as well.”

Bar Buoy stands among other inspiring local businesses. Rull Orchard in Exeter was a finalist in the same category, while Exeter’s Lilac Bakery and The Lost Kitchen in Chettiscombe competed for ‘Casual Dining Experience,’ narrowly missing out to Horrell & Horrell in Somerset. Darts Farm in Topsham was also recognized in the ‘Exceptional Spa Experience’ category.

The Food Lifestyle Awards have celebrated the southwest’s food scene for over a decade and this year’s competition was particularly tough. Finalists gathered for an awards night at Harbour House in Bristol, where winners were announced amidst a night of camaraderie and celebration.

It’s clear that the spirit of community and local craftsmanship is alive and thriving in the southwest’s food and drink industry, fostering strong connections and inspiring innovative programs. The trend reflects a growing consumer preference for locally-sourced products, highlighting the importance of sustainability in today’s market.
