Chicago Bears Make Strategic Roster Moves: IR Additions, New Signings, and Elevations

Ford is in his second season with the Chicago Bears, having played in three games so far this year. He joined the Bears after spending his first three seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Ford was drafted in the seventh round (234th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he played five seasons at the University of Miami, starting 30 of 50 games. During that time, he recorded 60 tackles and three sacks, showing solid defensive skills.

Carlson, another key player, has been with the Bears since the 2023 season. After going undrafted in 2019, he made a name for himself with the Cleveland Browns before joining Chicago. In his short time with the Bears, he already made a mark in a victory against Las Vegas. While with the Browns, he racked up six catches for 62 yards and one touchdown. He also succeeded in special teams. A former Princeton standout, Carlson ranks third in his school’s history for touchdown receptions, earning him Second-Team All-Ivy League honors.

Flowers, who joined the Bears’ practice squad before Week 2, made his debut during a win against the Dallas Cowboys. Throughout his career, he has played for several teams, including the Indianapolis Colts and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since joining the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022, he has made a decent impact, registering 32 tackles and three passes defended. His collegiate journey led him to Pittsburg State, where he was recognized as an NAIA First-Team All-American.

Recent data reveals that undrafted players are making waves in the NFL more than ever. In fact, approximately 20% of NFL rosters consist of undrafted free agents, and many have become key contributors to their teams. This trend underscores the importance of scouting and developing talent, regardless of draft status.

As fans look to the future, keep an eye on how players like Ford, Carlson, and Flowers continue to evolve within the Bears’ lineup. Their journey from college to the pros highlights the resilience and dedication that define successful athletes today.
