The Chicago Bears made some roster changes over the weekend. They placed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and running back Roschon Johnson on Reserve/Injured. To fill those spots, they signed running back Brittain Brown and linebacker Carl Jones Jr. to the active roster.
On top of that, tight end Nikola Kalinic and offensive lineman Jordan McFadden have been moved up from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Note that after the game, they’ll go back to the practice squad.
The Bears also downgraded defensive backs Kyler Gordon (calf) and Jaylon Johnson (groin) to OUT. Both remain on Reserve/Injured but are designated for return later.
Brittain Brown has spent the first part of the season on Chicago’s practice squad. He joined the team during training camp and made his debut in Week 9, scoring a 22-yard touchdown. Drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, Brown had a solid collegiate career, rushing for over 2,284 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns across different universities.
Carl Jones Jr. is playing in his second season with the Bears. He has contributed significantly on special teams, with 10 tackles this season—making him one of the top contributors. Jones, an undrafted free agent, made his NFL debut last season and has a noteworthy college background, where he set a record for the most games played at UCLA.
Tight end Nikola Kalinic has been on the practice squad since the beginning of the season. He has prior NFL experience with the Colts and Rams, starting in two games. Before his NFL career, he played in the Canadian Football League, helping his team reach the Grey Cup twice.
Jordan McFadden has also spent the season on the practice squad. He played for the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Bears and is noted for his impressive record at Clemson, where he logged significant playing time as an offensive lineman.
These roster moves reflect the Bears’ strategy to build a strong team as they face tough competition ahead. Each player’s background adds depth and experience, which can be crucial for the Bears’ success this season.
