China’s Tianwen-1 orbiter just made an exciting discovery. It captured images of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS during its fly-by of Mars. This comet has sparked interest due to theories suggesting it might have alien origins.
In a series of observations from October 1-4, the orbiter provided an animated GIF showing the comet racing through space. There’s also a static image taken on October 3, according to Space.com.

Loeb’s interest is particularly piqued by the comet’s unusual behaviors, which he argues might suggest it’s not just a typical comet. He has even suggested it could be an extraterrestrial probe.
Recently, GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna urged NASA to release data related to 3I/ATLAS, emphasizing the importance of understanding interstellar visitors. Her initiative has received praise from various scientists for supporting transparency in scientific exploration.
