Choy Achieves Prestigious Academic All-America Honors: Celebrating Excellence at University of Hawai’i at Manoa Athletics

University of Hawai’i’s ‘Eleu Choy Earns Academic All-America Honor

AUSTIN, Texas – ‘Eleu Choy, a standout libero for the University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team, has made a mark in both sports and academics. He has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic At-Large All-America third team. Choy is now one of only six men’s volleyball players from UH to achieve this honor.

Choy joins a select group of former Rainbow Warriors, including notable players like Dejan Miladinovic and Costas Theocharidis. This recognition highlights the importance of balancing academics with athletics, especially in a demanding environment like collegiate sports.

In the at-large category, which includes various NCAA-sponsored sports such as women’s beach volleyball and golf, Choy stood out. He has also been recognized as a CSC Academic All-District honoree twice, showcasing his commitment to academic excellence. With a master’s degree in civil engineering, he embodies the ideal student-athlete.

On the court, Choy has made significant contributions, including being a two-time starting libero. His efforts helped the Warriors win the Big West Championship in 2025 and reach the NCAA semifinals.

This year, three men’s volleyball players were selected among 44 top Division I student-athletes. Choy shares this honor with players from Loyola and Long Beach State.

As the conversation around student-athletes’ achievements expands, Choy’s accomplishment serves as an inspiring reminder that success can come in many forms, both in academics and athletics.
