SAN ANTONIO – A local healthcare provider is closing one of its hospital campuses. CHRISTUS Health announced that the Santa Rosa Hospital at Medical Center will shut down on April 25. The goal is to consolidate services into nearby CHRISTUS facilities.

Grant Wicklund, CEO of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, emphasized that this decision focuses on the well-being of patients. He stated, “Our patients and Associates will always be our priority.” The organization is committed to making sure patients transition smoothly to other locations.
The closure follows a detailed review of hospital operations and the evolving healthcare needs of the community. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System serves 2.3 million people in Bexar, Comal, and Hays counties.
Patients will be redirected to the Westover Hills location, located about 13 miles away, which is set to open a new tower this spring. Meanwhile, the Alamo Heights hospital will receive upgrades, including new diagnostic and surgical equipment, a critical care unit, and an expanded emergency department.
