Claire Foy recently shared a surprising personal health journey during an episode of the “Table Manners” podcast. The star of “The Crown” revealed that she had been dealing with parasites for years without realizing it.
Foy explained that her health issues started when she began losing weight unexpectedly. After some investigation, she learned she likely picked up these unwanted guests while traveling in Morocco, and she had been unknowingly living with them for at least five years. She described the experience as “gross” and noted how unsettling it was to find out, saying, “They travel as a pair. Gross, absolutely rank.”
To tackle the issue, Foy decided to change her diet instead of taking strong antibiotics. This included cutting out caffeine—a tough challenge for someone who used to drink around 15 cups of tea a day. “I took all this little gross stuff, and part of that was giving up caffeine,” she said, admitting the transition was difficult.
In addition to parasites, Foy has an autoimmune condition that requires her to be selective about her diet. She revealed, “I don’t actually eat gluten or sugar…except when I go out for dinner.” While she tries to stick to her restrictions, she enjoys treating herself when dining out, noting that it doesn’t seem to affect her health significantly.
