Saratoga Springs, NY – At the Skidmore Fall Golf Invitational, four players from the Clarkson University Golf team finished strong, shooting 74 or better on the final day. The tournament took place at the Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course, a par-72 layout stretching 7,145 yards.
The Golden Knights secured sixth place overall with a total score of 888, finishing behind teams like Amherst, Trinity, and NYU, but ahead of schools like Williams and Middlebury.
Eric Spoth led the team on the final day with a one-under-par 71. He scored a 35 on the front nine and a 36 on the back, making birdies on holes 6, 10, and 17. His three-day total of 220 put him in a tie for 19th among 99 golfers.
Tyler Yacawych had the best overall placement for the Knights. He followed two rounds of 72 with a two-over-par 74, ending with a total score of 218, which tied him for 14th place. He made birdies on holes 6 and 18 during his final round.
Luke Weisiger also had a solid performance, finishing with a score of 222, putting him in a tie for 26th. He shot a 74 on the last day, with birdies on holes 5 and 12.
Brian Secor matched Spoth’s birdie count with three on his final round, scoring a 73 and finishing the tournament with a total of 228, which placed him in a tie for 44th after moving up nearly 30 spots.
Ryan Makowski’s score was not included in the team total after he scored 84 on the last day, ending the tournament with a total of 242, which tied him for 84th. Playing individually, Aaron Walsh shot 82, finishing with a total of 250 and tying for 92nd.
Golf events like this can greatly improve team dynamics and individual player skills. As the season progresses, team spirit and experience can really influence performance.
