Clemson University’s Ambitious .889 Billion Capital Campaign: A Landmark Initiative for Future Generations

On February 23, 2025, Clemson University kicked off its largest fundraising campaign ever called Fiercely Forward. The goal? A whopping $1.889 billion! This ambitious campaign aims to strengthen Clemson’s commitment to student success, innovation, and achieving academic greatness.

The campaign is part of the University’s strategic plan, Clemson Elevate. With it, Clemson hopes to secure scholarships, enhance student programs, attract outstanding faculty, and improve campus facilities—all while respecting its rich history and natural beauty. A strong endowment will also support the University’s future.

“Fiercely Forward is about our future. It honors our past and enhances our mission in education, research, and service,” says Jim Clements, University President. “Together, we can transform the lives of our Tigers for generations.”

Clemson has made significant progress toward its goal, having raised $1.297 billion so far. Over 102,000 donors have contributed nearly 571,000 gifts. Notably, Billy and Ann Powers made a groundbreaking $60 million donation, aiming to elevate the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business to national prominence. Additionally, Jim and Candace Brown made a substantial commitment to IPTAY, which supports various athletic programs like football and basketball.

A unique aspect of this campaign is the Clemson Cornerstone Program, which has been empowering the University since 2014. Visionaries contributing $2.5 million or more have committed over $338 million, allowing new buildings to be constructed, programs to improve, and top faculty to be recruited and retained.

This campaign is led by the Committee on Philanthropy and over 100 volunteers from various fields, uniting the entire Clemson Family to achieve an inspiring future.

“As a former student, I couldn’t imagine all the doors Clemson would open for me. It’s my honor to help current and future students have the same opportunities,” says Cheri Phyfer-Kubu, a Clemson Trustee and Committee Chair.

The goal of $1.889 billion also reflects Clemson’s roots. Founded in 1889 by Thomas Green Clemson, the University has always focused on transforming lives. Now is the time to carry on his legacy and vision as we push Clemson Fiercely Forward.

Brian O’Rourke, Vice President of Advancement, emphasizes, “We have a vision for unprecedented growth, and we’re calling on the Clemson Family to join us in this endeavor.”

Join us on this exciting journey as we look toward a future full of discoveries and possibilities!
