Cleveland State University Viking Sports Weekly Update: Exciting Highlights and Events for February 10!

Men’s Basketball
The Vikings have a busy week ahead at the Wolstein Center. They’ll face Robert Morris on Wednesday, February 12, and then Youngstown State on Sunday, February 16. The game on Sunday will be televised nationally, starting at 2:00 p.m. Recently, Cleveland State achieved a solid 77-60 win against Milwaukee, keeping them on top of the league with a record of 12-2.

Women’s Basketball
This week, the Vikings are hitting the road for two games. They’ll play at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday, February 12, and at Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, February 15. They are coming off strong performances, winning against Detroit Mercy and Oakland, which brought their season record to 20-5 and 11-3 in Horizon League play. This marks the fourth consecutive season with 20 wins for the Vikings.

Wrestling
Cleveland State will face Lock Haven on Thursday, February 13, in a neutral site match at Franklin Area High School in Pennsylvania, where head coach Josh Moore went to school. They recently had a successful outing, winning five matches against Edinboro. Notable wins came from Joey Lyons, Daniel Bucknavich, Ben Aranda, Douglas Terry, and Tate Geiser.

Track & Field
The Vikings will compete at the Spire Indoor Games on Saturday, February 15. This event marks the sixth indoor meet of the season and offers a final chance to prepare for the Horizon League Championships. Zuriah Radeff-Koonce shone in the previous meet, finishing fifth in the 400 Meter Dash.

Men’s Tennis
Cleveland State is set for three matches this weekend in the MMTP. They will host Xavier on Friday, February 14, followed by matches against Ball State and Findlay on Sunday, February 16. The team will also unveil their Horizon League Championship banner before the match against Xavier.

Women’s Tennis
This week, the Vikings will play at home and on the road. They will host Eastern Michigan on Friday, February 14, then travel to Western Michigan on Sunday, February 16. Recently, they split matches, losing to West Virginia and winning against Mount St. Mary’s. Oihane Vicario and Tereze Vevere both excelled in singles, each achieving two wins and approaching a program record.

Lacrosse
The Vikings continue their season with a game against Notre Dame on Wednesday, February 12. They opened their season against Ohio State, where Brennen Hickey and Griffin Valli scored their first collegiate goals. Drew Graves led defensively with three caused turnovers.

Softball
Cleveland State is gearing up for six games this week, including five at the JU/UNF Invitational from February 14-16. They recently earned their first victory of the season, a 7-1 win over Radford at The Spring Games.

Viking Of The Week
Destiny Leo, Women’s Basketball
Destiny Leo had an impressive week, averaging 16.5 points per game with a remarkable shooting percentage—.563 overall and .643 from three-point range. She scored 20 points in the game against Oakland.
