Pat Fitzgerald, the former head football coach at Northwestern University, has settled his lawsuit with the school. This lawsuit stemmed from his firing after allegations of hazing emerged within the football program.

Fitzgerald claimed he didn’t know about any hazing and asserted he never endorsed such behavior. While Northwestern acknowledged that hazing occurred, their investigation found no evidence that Fitzgerald was aware of it. University officials stated they were “saddened” by the impact of the hazing but reaffirmed that Fitzgerald did not condone or promote it.

The lawsuit settled without disclosing financial terms. Fitzgerald expressed satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the stress and embarrassment he faced over the past two years due to media scrutiny. He maintained that if he had known about the hazing, he would have taken steps to prevent it.
