Collin Morikawa is changing caddies again. After just five tournaments with Joe Greiner, they’ve decided to part ways. This week at the Rocket Classic in Detroit, Morikawa will have K.K. Limbhasut, a former college teammate, stepping in.
Morikawa shared the news during a press conference, explaining how he’s used to working with one caddie for a long time. He previously had a strong partnership with J.J. Jakovac, who was part of his team for most of his career. Morikawa said, “Even if two people are great at what they do, it doesn’t mean they’ll work well together.”
He noted that although Greiner is talented, their communication styles didn’t quite match. They did team up for three top-25 finishes, but nothing better than a T-17 at their first event together.
Limbhasut, currently ranked No. 159 on the Korn Ferry Tour, has had nine starts this season. As for the future, Morikawa mentioned he’s still looking for a permanent caddie and will announce his choice when he’s ready.
Caddie changes can be a big deal in golf. They often reflect shifts in a player’s strategy or mindset. Many athletes have shared similar experiences, like Brooks Koepka, who frequently changes his support team. This can influence not just performance but also the mental aspects of the game.
With the PGA season in full swing, the golf community is eager to see how Morikawa navigates this transition. It’s a reminder of how personal dynamics play a vital role in sports, often shaping an athlete’s success on the course. You can follow more about this topic on Golfweek here: Golfweek.
