Collins Aerospace Unveils State-of-the-Art Testing Facility in Bengaluru, Strengthening Operations in India

Collins Aerospace, a well-known American aerospace and defense company, has opened a new Engineering Development and Test Centre (EDTC) in Bengaluru. This facility is an important step for India’s aerospace industry and reflects a significant investment.

The EDTC is packed with advanced testing technology. It can recreate challenging conditions that aircraft face, such as high altitudes, heavy vibrations, electromagnetic interference, and extreme temperatures. This ensures that aerospace systems meet international safety and performance standards.

Clay Lindwall, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technology at Collins Aerospace, mentioned that the centre will start by focusing on testing avionics, advanced structures, aircraft interiors, and power and control systems. As time goes on, the centre plans to expand its services to cover all RTX businesses, enhancing its role in the aerospace and defense sectors.

“This investment brings advanced testing capabilities closer to where engineering and manufacturing happen and highlights India’s key role in the global supply chain,” said Savyasachi Srinivas, Vice President of Global Engineering & Technology Centres.

Collins Aerospace is teaming up with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), providing equipment for various aircraft like fighter jets and helicopters, including the Tejas. There are also discussions with the Aeronautical Development Agency about the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project.

With over 6,000 employees in India across various fields, including engineering and manufacturing, Collins Aerospace is making a notable impact. The new EDTC is expected to strengthen India’s role as a hub for innovation in the aerospace industry.
