Colman Domingo Takes on Iconic Role as Cowardly Lion in Exciting Wicked Sequel!

Colman Domingo, the talented American actor and playwright, has officially landed the role of the Cowardly Lion in the upcoming film Wicked: For Good. This news was confirmed on the film’s Instagram account, where a charming video featured Domingo surrounded by lion plush toys. He ended the clip with a cheerful, “See you in Oz.”

Directed by Jon M. Chu, this sequel to the beloved Broadway musical has been generating excitement since its first film release in November 2024. Chu had hinted at Domingo’s involvement earlier, calling him on Instagram. According to Chu, he said, “It’s not a ton of lines, but maybe you have a little time. I know you’re busy. I’ll come to you.” Domingo’s enthusiastic response was, “Why the f— not. Let’s go.”

Domingo joins a star-studded cast that includes Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. Not just a stage talent, Domingo is also an acclaimed actor. He has two Academy Award nominations under his belt and won a Primetime Emmy Award. Additionally, Time Magazine recognized him as one of the 100 most influential people in 2024.
