A Colorado mother, Kimberlee Singler, has been extradited from the UK to the US, where she faces serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder. Authorities say she allegedly killed her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son in December 2023 before fleeing to London. Police arrested her there in December.
During her extradition hearing in London, Singler argued that her possible sentence could violate European human rights laws, but the court ultimately dismissed her claims. Now back in the US, she is in custody without bond and will soon appear in court.
District Attorney Michael Allen announced that Singler is also charged with attempted murder, child abuse, and assault. Prosecutor Joel Smith explained that the alleged murders took place amid a custody battle with her ex-husband. On December 19, police responded to a 911 call about a burglary at Singler’s home, only to discover her children had died. A gun, which tested positive for DNA matching both the children and the mother, was found at the scene.
In a striking detail, a third child, whose name hasn’t been revealed, survived an attack but suffered severe injuries. Authorities stated that Singler tried to shift blame onto her husband, but he had a verifiable alibi, driving a GPS-tracked truck in Denver during the incident.
